Workplace Mental Health
Most of adult life is spent in the workplace, and 33-50% of all Americans will experience a mental health challenge or breakdown in their lifetime. Mental health—the state of a person’s psychological and emotional wellbeing—affects everyone. The workplace is one of the most important environments to discuss mental health and illness, yet employees, managers, and C-suite stay silent due to stigma and fear of judgment. According to a 2018 survey by Everyday Health, 57 percent of respondents are paralyzed by stress. And according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, untreated mental health conditions cost employers $100 billion and 217 million lost workdays annually.
Mental health is not just about the individual. It involves the systems and support around the individual as well. It’s possible to create supportive environments that promote healthy and empowered employees. And to give employees the tools they need to address their own mental health effectively. On average, for every $1 invested in mental health, there is a $3 return. So, how can you afford not to make mental health in the workplace a priority?

Workshops, Trainings, KeynotesManaging Self-Care During Difficult Times
One of the easiest ways to start the conversation on workplace mental health is managing self-care and cultivating resilience.
Author, educator, and comic Joshua Rivedal combines standup comedy and storytelling. Rivedal will talk a bit about his struggles with mental health before and during college. His comedy pokes fun at himself and his upbringing, while his lived experience with mental health struggles and suicide are delicately presented as tools to provide a real picture of someone who has struggled and now has hope. Rivedal will discuss what mental health and illness is and is not, self-care tips, coping and stress management strategies, signs and symptoms of depression and anxiety and how to cope, and resources of help. The session will close with Q&A. Suicide Awareness & Referral in the Workplace
Of all people who die by suicide, nearly 80% are of working age (18-65), making the workplace the biggest cross-section for crisis and suicide prevention and intervention. In addition to the tragic cost of human life, suicide deaths often lead to a reduction in workplace productivity and morale when left unaddressed or managed poorly.
In this presentation on suicide prevention, author, trainer, storyteller, and survivor of suicide loss, Joshua Rivedal, combines storytelling, light humor, PowerPoint, and group discussion. Rivedal will discuss why people think of suicide, risk factors, signs and symptoms of suicidal thinking, and how to intervene if someone you know is experiencing suicidal thoughts. Rivedal will have resources available for mental health and suicide prevention. The session will close with a Q&A. Reach out to Josh directly - josh at iampossibleproject dot com
